Dear Cantab,

The annual Cambridge-Oxford Potomac Challenge Cup turned out to be a tremendous effort on all parts; and while the results of the races left us wanting, the Cambridge Society of Washington DC is pleased to announce that we will be drowning our sorrows by a good ol' fashioned burning at the stake!

On November 3, Cantab DC will be celebrating Guy Fawkes Night with a feast and dramatic reenactment of this historic trial! Tickets are now sold out, but you can send a request to be put on the waiting list if something opens up. If you have registered we look forward to seeing you on Saturday. If you are not able to make our Guy Fawkes night, do not despair, as we are now planning Cantab DC's first annual Christmas Party.

Details on Guy Fawkes Night, the forthcoming Christmas party, the Monthly Drinks, the results of the Boat Race, and all of our events and news items are listed at the links below.

We hope you will join us in these upcoming events to support the Light Blue of DC; newcomers are always welcome! We will also highly encourage you to update your user profile and preferences (be sure to list your Cambridge college under "Schools") in order to create an active and visible alumni community.

Simultaneously, we are also increasing our outreach campaign to extend beyond the immediate vicinity of the Washington DC metropolitan area. If you live in Maryland or Northern Virginia and would like to organise an event for your fellow alumni closer to your home, then please contact us.

But why stop there when you can connect with current Cambridge students right from your own workplace? Read about the support that you can offer Cambridge students and graduates through its Career Services Department. You may even find some services that Cambridge Careers can offer you!

Lastly, we are pleased to welcome the Oxford and Cambridge Club (in London) as a sponsor of Cantab DC. We expect that membership in their club may be of interest to some of you. Their support also allows us to continue to strengthen Cambridge in the greater Washington DC area. Additional opportunities for sponsorship can be found online.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or observations please feel free to contact us.
