Cambridge Summer Crab Feast: Postponed to August 10th
Picnic for Cambridge Alumni

Due to inclimate weather the CrabFest picnic is now scheduled for next Saturday (August 10). If you already purchased a ticket it will still be valid. However, if you cannot make next Saturday, you can also claim a full refund by emailing If you do not claim a refund by 5pm on Wednesday August 14, we will assume you are still coming to the picnic and your purchase at that point will become non-refundable.

In the typical Mid-Atlantic traditional style, members of Cantab DC will be holding a crab feast at Hains Point on Saturday August 3 from 4-8PM. Come enjoy a crab picinic, socializing, frisbee, walking, reclining, soaking up the sun, etc. Friends and Family are encouraged to attend; all are welcome!

Tickets: Tickets will be $10 and should be purchased in advance of the event at the event registration link below. Ticket prices will rise to $13 four days before the event. Tickets are non-refundable and ticketing will close the day before the event.

Directions: From Downtown DC take the 14th Street Bridge across the Potomac and look for an early right exit to Hains Point/East Potomac Park. Alternatively, from the south Mall area take Maine Ave SW and watch for the signs. Once on the island there is only one perimeter road, Ohio Drive. Go as far south as you can, past the Golf Course, and park. There is about a 200 yard walk from the last parking area to the picnic area (new field location). We will be as far south as possible, facing Reagan Airport. Last building location for GPS is: 900 Ohio Drive, SW, Washington DC 20024. Once there, carry on south for another 3/4 of a mile.
What to bring: A potluck side dish to share. Folding chair, blanket, rain poncho, sun block, bug spray, camera, walking shoes. Any Cambridge flags and pennants and college t-shirts.
What not to do and bring: Hains Point is the national headquarters of the Park Service and Park Police. They have a ton of officers and vehicles and trainees on-site. Expect to be overseen. Alcohol is prohibited. Park in the designated areas only, or risk a ticket and being towed. Parking is first-come first served, so the later you arrive the longer your walk.
Weather policy: In the event of predicted inclimate weather, the event organizers will make a call the morning of whether or not to proceed with the event or to reschedule. In this case the event will be rescheduled for the following Saturday at the same place/time.
