July ***Second*** Thursday Drinks: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Darwin College
  Darwin College
The Willard, Peacock Alley

Please note that this month's drinks is delayed until the Second Thursday of the month so as not to overlap with the Fourth of July Holiday. Instead we hope you will spend that day remembering this monumental moment in history and the contributions of three notable Cambridge alumni towards that vision, including: Thomas Nelson Jr. (Trinity*), Arthur Middleton (Trinity Hall) and Thomas Lynch Jr. (Gonville & Caius College).

*Records show that Thomas Nelson Jr. may also have attended Christ's College, Cambridge.

Join Cantab DC for this month's "Thursday Drinks" at the historic Willard Hotel as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Darwin College. The Drinks is an elegant but low-key event where you can enjoy a great mix of alumni of all ages, degree programs and life experiences, with lots to discuss in a friendly and easygoing environment. Come imbibe in one of America's most historic hotels, the Willard. Catch up with old friends and make new ones!

Newcomers Welcome: If you are new in DC or this is your first time at a Cambridge event, make sure to email webmaster@cantabdc.org ahead of time and we'll see that you are greeted and introduced to folks on your arrival. Bring your friends and family - everyone with an alumni connection is welcome! View pictures of the previous Happy Hours online and see who is coming to the next one on Facebook.

Please Note: The drinks usually kicks off with the first few people trickling in a few minutes after 6:30 and most having arrived by 7:30. Once entering in through the Willard main entrance, just go through the lobby, up the steps and past the piano to the long hall called “Peacock Alley”. Then just look for the Cambridge Crest or memorabilia, scarves are an easy giveaway these days! In recent months our group has grown and sometimes been asked to move out of Peacock Alley to the larger/more private seating area just adjacent to the lobby desk. If you get there right at 6:30 or if you do not see another Cantab in Peacock Alley, please don't run away! The rest either will be there shortly or have moved to the adjacent spot.

Directions to the Willard: The Willard Hotel - located at 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW - is the regular venue for our happy hours held on the First Thursday of every month. It is conveniently located near the Red, Blue and Orange Lines at Metro Center. Please remember to travel responsibly when leaving the drinks. We urge you to take public transportation and/or use a taxi. If you register for the Uber Black Car/Taxi Service using the following code (69n6p) you will receive a $20 credit that will be applied to your account. Likewise, if you register for the Lyft Taxi Service using the link provided you will have a free $25 credit applied to your first ride. Travel responsibly!
