Cambridge-Oxford Potomac Challenge Cup
Come cheer on the light blue!

The great Cambridge-Oxford Potomac Boat Race will take place on the afternoon of October 1. The race will start around 2:00 PM. Spectators can gather on the Georgetown waterfront and get a drink at Nick's Riverside Grill as you wait. A facilitator will be on hand at the waterfront/Nick's to relay live information as the boats approach the finish line at the Waterfront.

Be sure to support the Light Blue by sporting your college attire, boat club blazers, scarves or whatever finery you picked up while at Cambridge. As Cantab DC's oldest and most successful event it would be great to see a strong Cambridge turnout to support our Light Blue squads and the Society.

After the races, participants and supporters from both teams will congregate for post-race drinks and further celebrations. Friends and family are welcome.

About the Cantab DC Boat Club and the Potomac Challenge Cup

The Cantab DC Boat Club trains on the Potomac every summer, culminating in the Cambridge-Oxford Potomac Challenge Cup in late Summer/early Fall. All Cambridge alumni are welcome to row with us. The race, of course, follows in the tradition of the The Boat Race in London, where Cambridge and Oxford Crews compete for the coveted champion title. Similarly the Potomac Boat Race has an interesting historic foundation that is rooted in a challenge between Secretary of the U.S. Navy, John F. Lehman Jr. and U.S. Senator Larry Lee Pressler. You can read more about these historic beginnings of the Potomac Boat Races online.

If your company or organization would like to support the Cambridge Boats, please take a look at our Sponsorship Opportunities for corporate benefits and more information! Or feel free to make an online donation to our society to help support the Cambridge Boat Club.
